The Old Queensland Museum, Brisbane

The The Old Museum has a long-standing history, originally a 1890s concert hall with landscaped gardens, home to various arts organisations. The building was listed on the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992 and is now used as a performance and exhibition venue.

In 2009 as part of the 0150 celebrations, the Old Museum Building was announced as one of the 0150 Icons of Queensland for its role as a “structure and engineering feat”Keen Concreting has a long history working on restoration at the Old Museum and was most recently assigned to to carry out various concrete works on the of the The Old Museum Grounds and structure in the Brisbane suburb of Bowen Hills.

Scope of works on this project included but was not limited to:

  • Waterproofing structures
  • Restoration of foundations and grounds



Other aspects of the project included working in confined spaces, access constraints and working at a heritage listed site. The job was also completed while working to a strict timeline.
